Epernay and other stops...

A few days ago, we stayed at the Polish Mission in La Ferte sous Jouarre near the River Marne, a serene and simple place where we received much-appreciated blessings on our departure.  It was reminiscent of the convent school Sal attended happily years ago...   but strange to be waited upon by the Sisters, with breakfast and wifi included!

We are now in Epernay in Champagne country for two days of R&R.  It is about 150 kilometers from Paris by bicycle and perhaps this link to our map will give and idea of where we are - sometimes we don't know?!!
https://mapsengine.google.com/map/viewer?mid=zEOdD001aE5g.kthx0vW-0tRU    Today we rest our derrieres and legs and will enjoy the town.

At times we have not known where we are (which is not the same as being lost) - these children were helpful and charming as we searched for a B&B in this most delightful countryside.

Is the road over there? No Ken don't do it!!

Mother Nature's lace, farmland with the combine harvesters working in the wheat fields, challenging hills (!), vineyards and village churches are daily delights.

We have now been very fortunate to find the elegant Chez Camille with the assistance of the efficient Epernay Tourist Information Office in town which also offered Ken some samples of the champagne of the region!  Our hosts Marie and Michel named their B&B for their daughter, Camille and, assisted by their little dog Bob, are most helpful, happy and friendly.

They are also tres sportifs, knowing a great deal about bicycles and doing triathlons themselves.  The Bike Friday rests in their big garage, adjoining the 1870 house they have renovated to luxurious modern standards.

A bientot!
